Senator Joan Freeman visits St Joseph's

Senator Joan Freeman visits St Joseph's
The staff and students of St Joseph's Lucan welcomed the presidential candidate Senator Joan Freeman to our school today.
The invitation was extended to the Senator by the Politics and Society Class and the Student Council.
It was a particularly memorable visit for the students as this presidential election would be the first time that many of the Leaving Certificate class will be eligible to vote in a National election. The visit was made even more exciting by the presence of RTE's Prime Time team and it's political correspondent Katie Hannon. The senator gave a most uplifting talk on Young People and the importance of them minding their mental health. The girls in turn asked questions, which the Senator answered, in a most comprehensive but reassuring and warm way.
By the time the visit ended, the students seemed captivated and charmed by Senator Freeman and they wished her the very best of luck and support in the rest of her campaign.
The visit may be featured in 2 weeks time on RTE's Prime Time closer to the election date. Perhaps readers might look out for the students on the programme!
