Ariane Hannon wins Bronze at Irish European Union Science Olympiad

Ariane Hannon (5th Year) won a Bronze medal on Saturday at the Irish European Union Science Olympiad (IrEUSO) competition.

The Irish European Union Science Olympiad is an individual, subject based (biology, chemistry or physics) science competition held annually in DCU.

Only students in Transition Year or in Fifth Year may take part in the IrEUSO competition and invitations are sent to students based on their Junior Certificate Examinations results in Maths and Science.

Students are presented with material that they may not have met in school but they are required to use their scientific reasoning skills, problem-solving abilities and knowledge to solve the problems.

The top three students are awarded gold medals, the next three silver and the next six bronze.

All medal winners will be invited to participate in Practical Training and after a further assessment, the top six students will be selected to represent Ireland at the EUSO 2019 in Almada, Portugal.

Special thanks to Ms Butler who helped Ariane prepare for the competition.

Well done Ariane, it is a terrific achievement!
